This morning at the piano, I was singing Charles Wesley’s “And Can It Be?” His last verse ends “Bold I approach th’eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ, my own”. How glorious to have a crown….but Revelation 4:10 says the twenty-four elders (will we not follow their example?) will lay them at His feet….so I wrote a new last verse to follow his:
(Note: Italics repeat Wesley’s words; new words copyright HIM/CAVenable 2/19/2010 )Then shall my crown, my reward, be laid
At Your feet, O Christ, the Lamb Who was slain
You rescued me from darkness of death
Revived and filled me with Your breath
// Amazing love! How can it be?
That Thou my God, shouldst live in me! //
Everything we are, everything we have, we owe it all to Christ!
Another last verse
As a music minister, I long to go into the Holy of Holies. I wrote this song as a continuation of “Take Me In” by Dayspring Music.
LORD,
Here I am in the Holy of Holies
Here I am by the blood of the Lamb
Here I am in the Holy of Holies
Take my hand, lift me up, up to Thee.
