Don’t Turn Away

Taken from a BRIDGE over Iguazu Falls, Argentina

I’m adding a new category called “Redeemed Songs”.  There’s some very beautiful music out there in the secular world but the lyrics do nothing for me.  So I’m writing new lyrics to the melodies.  This is not a new thing.  Many old hymns were written to popular secular melodies.

So I hope you’ll be edified by these new lyrics which can be sung to “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina”:

PS: “YAHshua” is Hebrew for “Jesus”.

Don’t Turn Away

The Answer’s easy
Do you think me strange?
Let me try to explain how I feel
That I still have God’s love
After all that I’ve done
Oh, please believe me
All I could see
Was what I thought that I knew
I was blinded to what was the Truth
But then God touched me and He made me new!

I’m glad I let it happen
I needed change
Couldn’t stay all my life down at heart
Looking out through the window
Staying far from the Son
Christ offered me freedom
Changing my life, making everything new
He’s made a lasting impression on me, though I never expected Him to.

Don’t cry for me, I have Messiah!
The truth is YAHshua loves me
Despite my wild days
My vain existence
God kept His promise
Christ bridged the distance!

Yet men seek fortune and men seek fame
But their Creator have they ever invited in?
Riches are of this world
And entice to desire
But they’re passing illusions
Riches aren’t the solutions
They promise to be
But the Answer is for all to believe:
On the cross, Messiah died for you and me!

Don’t turn away, come to Messiah!
The truth is YAHshua loves us
Despite our wild days
Our vain existence
God kept His promise
Christ bridged the distance!

Don’t turn away, come to Messiah!
The truth is YAHshua loves you!
Despite your wild days
Your vain existence
God kept His promise
Don’t keep Him distant!
God kept His promise
Invite His Presence!

Have I said enough?
There’s so much more I could say to you…
But all you have to do
Is turn to Christ to know
That His every Word is true!
